Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving growth and expanding the client base in the Electronics Contract Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The BDM will collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to offer tailored manufacturing solutions to clients, ensuring alignment with their requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify trends and new opportunities in the EMS industry.
- Analyze competitors, customer preferences, and technology advancements to identify areas for business growth.
Lead Generation & Client Acquisition:
- Develop and implement strategies for lead generation through networking, cold calling, trade shows, and industry events.
- Identify and target potential customers in industries such as automotive, telecommunications, medical devices, and consumer electronics.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new clients.
Client Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in client organizations.
- Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams (engineering, production, and quality) to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates and reports to clients on project progress and timelines.
Sales Planning & Strategy:
- Develop and implement sales strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
- Create tailored proposals, presentations, and solutions that address client needs.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients to achieve win-win agreements.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with the engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment between client needs and manufacturing capabilities.
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure products meet customer and industry standards.
Revenue Growth & Targets:
- Meet and exceed revenue targets by acquiring new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed to maximize profitability.
Industry Networking & Brand Building:
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to promote EMS services.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create content, case studies, and promotional materials that enhance brand presence.
Reporting & Forecasting:
- Prepare regular reports on sales activities, business development initiatives, and pipeline status.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and updates to senior management.
Contract Negotiation & Management:
- Negotiate and manage contracts ensuring profitability and risk mitigation.
- Ensure that legal and compliance standards are met in all agreements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry, including PCB assembly, box build, and systems integration.
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or account management within electronics manufacturing or related industries.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build long-term relationships with customers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Manage Customer Expectations and Be a Great Communicator
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in business development or sales within the EMS industry.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO).
