Evaluation Criteria:

1. First Principle Thinking:

Access to Information is not any more a challenge. Knowing which amongst the ocean of information is relevant to the problem at hand is the biggest challenge that we face. It's only made harder, as we are constantly immersed in the opinions and biases of brands masquerading as facts, often assuming the “trust” of authority that the brand holds on a subject.

Yet we can’t ignore them either. That can be tag names like Google, Research of MIT, Tesla, Open AI, that Journal and this Scientist, etc. and the worst of all - ourselves. We tend to put too much of “trust” in our own first thoughts and perceptions. Problems don’t come announcing and we realize a problem only through our first perception and we build from there, which is often a bundle of assumptions. Yet we are more likely to be sure of what we “feel” and mistake them as our thoughts. So much so that, we use logic to justify our perceptions rather than to validate our perceptions.

First principles thinking, also known as reasoning from first principles, is a powerful strategy for breaking down complex problems and generating original solutions. It encourages you to think independently and question assumptions. Let’s delve into what it entails

Elon Musk exemplifies first principles of thinking. When faced with the astronomical cost of purchasing rockets for his Mars mission, he broke down the problem:

  • What is a rocket made of? Aerospace-grade materials.
  • What is the value of those materials on the commodity market? Turns out, only around 2% of the typical rocket price.
  • Solution: Musk founded SpaceX, bought raw materials, and built rockets himself, slashing costs significantly.

2. System Thinking:

Identifying the Root System: The Key to Effective Problem-Solving, Accurately pinpointing the root cause of a problem is essential. Often, problems arise because the desired outcome isn't achieved within a particular system. However, defining the exact system at play can be challenging, as it's often a complex web of interacting elements.

The first, and arguably most critical, step in tackling any problem is identifying the right system. This demands a strong understanding of the relevant domain. The ability to patiently dissect the problem, separating the System of Interest from its surroundings, is paramount. This analysis involves breaking down the problem into manageable parts and processes, identifying gaps or ambiguities in requirements, considering potential edge cases, and ensuring comprehensive coverage of all needs. Ultimately, success hinges on effectively grasping the system model and translating it into a suitable design solution.

3. Design Thinking

Designing for Effortless User Experience, Great design anticipates and addresses inherent human limitations to create intuitive and effortless user experiences. These limitations can include:

  • Cognitive biases: Assumptions, fatigue, and sensory limitations can lead to confusion (e.g., mistaking transparent glass doors for open doorways).
  • Misinterpretation and misuse: Clear and well-designed interfaces minimize the potential for users to misunderstand or misuse a product.

Focus on User Efficiency, By minimizing these limitations, design can:

  • Reduce cognitive load: Make tasks easier to understand and complete.
  • Increase user satisfaction: Create a smooth and enjoyable user experience.
  • Prevent errors: Anticipate potential issues and design safeguards to avoid them.
  • Understanding User Needs

The user-centred design emphasizes understanding user needs and behaviours. This allows engineers to develop solutions that are:

  • Intuitive and user-friendly: Minimizing the need for complex instructions or troubleshooting.
  • Adaptable to different user skill levels: Catering to a wider range of users.
  • Resilient to human error: Accounting for potential user mistakes and mitigating their impact.

Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • B.E or M.E Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Relevant Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of current building codes and standards.
  • Industrial knowledge in manufacturing and knowledge of advanced building materials are most preferred.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Experimental/ analytical research(at least one) and engineering success.
  • Strong engineering and scientific background in an autonomous working culture.
  • Broad exposure to construction materials is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and detailed documentation skills.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities simultaneously and ability to independently execute those priorities.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter with hands-on skills.

Behavioural Tendency

First Principle Thinking, Synergy with Vision, Passion for positive contribution to humanity, Availability, Responsibility, Versatility, Resourcefulness, Thoroughness & Attention to Detail, Team spirit, and being the change you want to see in the world.

Tools Knowledge.

Proficient in the use of any of the following combinations of software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Advance Steel Autodesk, Solidworks, Abacus, Anasys, Stadd, ETABS, SAP, Rhino, Grasshopper, Tensorflow, Python, Matlab, Adobe Photoshop.
