Saint-Gobain Research India is looking for Research Engineer/Senior Research Engineer, who is expected to boost innovation in our solution portfolio, comprising of new product and process development, enabling business ambitions for growth and impact. The candidate need to drive and develop new ceramic solutions for the Engineered Ceramics SBU of the Performance Ceramics & Refractories (PCR) business unit. The main focus of the PCR R&D team is to develop differentiated solutions that bring sustainability benefits to its customers and contribute to make a better, safer and greener world.


Role Requirement:

  • Able to make a project plan, apply DOE &statistical tools, drive a dedicated team and interact with the main stakeholder to execute the projects within tight timelines.
  • Performing lab scale & pilot scale experiments as required in the project . Assess the environmental benefits and the value proposition of the products and solutions under development
  • Work closely with other researchers at SGRI and in the worldwide R&D team as well as with colleagues from other functions (manufacturing, commercial…)
  • Connect with BU teams in order to understand the market need, develop knowledge in the application space, and succesfully industrialize the developed solutions
  • Needs to be Solution orientied & colloborative mindset with strong technical inclination & curiosity.
  • Involves travel as per business & project requirement, mainly to conduct trials at plant & at customer locations.


Skill Set:

  • Strong knowledge in developing new formulations based on oxide or non-oxide compounds including carbides and borides for various applications such as body armor, kiln furniture and filtration membranes. Knowledge of material requirements and applications expertise in one of these fields would be appreciated.
  • Good sciencific knowledge on different ceramic manufacturing techniques including slip casting, pressing, extrusion, etc.
  • Hands on experience in making ceramics with high tempreature processing facilities, such as vacuum furnaces as well as using different ceramic processing methods.
  • Good knowledge ondifferent physical property measurements of ceramics at room and high temperatures and able to correlate the material-mechanical properties.
  • Good understanding of different characterization techniques used for inorganic materials and able to demonstrate the Structure-property relationships.
  • Possess strong leadership skills – having experience in leading projects using stage gate methodology
  • Experience of industrial scale up of laboratory developments
  • Should possess good communication & presentation skills including the ability to interact efficiently with colleagues across various functions and locations.
  • Having the ability to write sound technical reports.




Qualification:

Ph.D. in the area of Ceramics/Materials Science with 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience.
