Role Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Senior HR Business Partnerto work in a truly global environment to support the Shared Service Center (SSC) in India as well as other entities in the region. As the HR Business Partner for India office, you will play a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives, fostering a positive work culture, and driving HR initiatives to support both local and regional HR operations. The role reports into Regional HR Manager – Asia and East Africa. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.

This role will be working for ED&F Man Bangalore office, Volcafe’s company in India.

Key Accountabilities


Country HR Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of HR operations within the country, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to support organizational goals.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, including workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding processes.
  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure effective compensation and benefits administration in accordance with company policies and market standards.
  • Collaborate with regional HR team to drive consistency and alignment across the organization.

Strategic HR alignment:

  • Collaborate with Regional HR to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support organizational objectives for the SSC.
  • Translate business needs into HR initiatives and programs for the Shared Service Center and other entities.
  • Ensure alignment of HR practices and policies across all entities while accommodating regional variations and requirements.

HR Services Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day HR operations of the Shared Service Center, including but not limited to employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and compliance.
  • Partner with regional HR team to streamline HR processes and ensure consistency in service delivery across all entities.
  • Monitor HR metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational excellence.

Employee Engagement and Relations:

  • Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, foster a positive work culture, and promote diversity and inclusion within the Shared Service Center and other entities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance, mediation, and resolution in collaboration with HR and management teams.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, department heads, and regional HR to understand their needs and proactively address HR challenges.
  • Partner with HR teams to support the implementation of key initiatives such as talent development, succession planning, and organizational change management.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, offering insights and recommendations to drive business success.

HR Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and company standards.
  • Stay abreast of HR best practices, industry trends, and legal developments to ensure HR policies remain current and effective.



Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience of 8 to 10 years as an HR Business Partner or similar role, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws across multiple regions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret HR data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a customer-centric approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality HR services.
