Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Taxation will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of direct and indirect taxation for the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with tax regulations, optimizing tax efficiency, managing tax risks, and contributing to the company’s financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns, including GST, Income Tax, TDS, and other applicable taxes.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for financial statements.

Tax Planning & Strategy:

  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies in line with the company’s financial goals.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization and savings.
  • Advise management on the tax implications of business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and new business ventures.

Audit & Assessment:

  • Manage tax audits and assessments, liaising with tax authorities as necessary.
  • Prepare and present documentation required during tax audits and assessments.
  • Handle tax litigation and appeals in coordination with external consultants and legal teams.

Process Improvement:

  • Implement and maintain tax-related internal controls and processes.
  • Continuously assess and improve the company’s tax reporting and compliance systems.
  • Provide training and support to the finance team on tax-related matters.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, ensuring their growth and development.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment on tax-related issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory. Additional qualifications.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in taxation.
  • Extensive experience in handling both direct and indirect taxes, including GST, Income Tax, and TDS.
