A) About the Role

We seek an experienced professional with at least 10 years of relevant (Renewable) experience in the Power industry, Candidate shall be able to handle RE Regulatory & Policy, Bid Process Management & financial modelling for RE projects, Regulatory framework related works pertaining to a Distribution Licensee. He should be able to compare Tariff of various states and suggest innovative ways in tariff applicability and design. He should be aware of all important Renewable Energy related Orders/judgements issued by various SERCs/Courts. He shall be able to appraise the Client on all Renewable Energy related Regulatory Updates in the Country.


The ‘Sr. Manager/Manager – Renewable’ is a mid-level position in the Company, and shall be a part of the dynamic, high performing team within our ‘Management Consulting’ division.


B) Detailed set of expectations/Tasks expected under this role

As a key member of ‘Policy & Regulatory” segment, and reporting to the Director - Management Consulting, the key (broadly indicative) expectations shall be as under:

  • Multi-task on assignments, BD responsibilities and be able to deliver in typical consulting environment.
  • Executing and Delivering RE Policy/Regulatory and RE Power Purchase related works mainly related to Distribution Licensee.
  • Advise Client on various steps taken by Utilities/Licensees for optimization of cost and rationalization of Tariffs
  • Also advise on best practices adopted by other States.
  • Assistance in framing responses related to tariff matters before appropriate Legal Forum.
  • To appraise and present the draft rules/regulations/papers/ study report related to RE Power sector issued by various authorities viz. GoI, MoP, CEA, FoR etc.
  • Commenting and Advising on the Amendments in the Electricity Act, Regulations, Policies, Guidelines, and Pre bid query.
  • Support for preparation of tender documents.
  • Manage/ update crucial data base related RE policies, RE regulatory framework, RE PPAs, RE norms & RPO obligations issued by various commissions, comparative study of RE tariff & Other performance parameters, etc.
  • Preparing Financial Model on Tariff and related aspects
  • Client Interactions/ discussions/ meetings whenever necessary, give feedback on matters affecting the Client.


C) Required skill set

  • MS Office proficiency (word, excel and power point)
  • Expertise in Renewable project financial/tariff modelling
  • Prior power sector consulting experience in a firm of repute preferred.
  • Should have Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Should have Excellent interpersonal skills to manage both internal as well as external stakeholders.
  • Should be flexible to work in additional areas such as bid advisory, financial appraisal, performance monitoring of RE projects etc.
  • Should have assisted multiple power sector clients such as Private/ State/ Central Generators/ Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Government & Private Power Utilities, electricity consumer associations.
  • Should be updated about the latest trends/changes in the RE power sector regulatory scenario including the new policy notifications, Electricity Act Amendments, new Regulations, key judgements of higher courts, etc.
  • Should have experience in working on RE policies, RE regulations, RE tariff matters, due diligence of RE projects, RE PPA/ PSA matters, etc. for private power developers/companies would be preferable;


D) Education and Experience

  • Atleast 10 years
  • BE/ B. Tech (preference to Electrical) and / MBA (Finance/Power preferred).


E) Work Location

  • Base location shall be Mumbai, Maharashtra. However, the role might require the applicant to undertake travel for pursuing various opportunities.
