Packaging development

  • Providing new packaging standards and Packaging instruction to all Pan India plants
  • Support in RFQ discussion and provide input on loop size requirement in packaging.
  • Development of packing material for NPD products as per customer’s requirement in co-ordination with Category Purchase and ESG standards
  • Prototype NPD development with the help of vendors of respective packaging material, including designing, costing, machinability, end consumer convenience, Container stuffing, aesthetic and transit trial.
  • Approving the Design of Packaging material including returnable packaging for Sea, Road, Air mode dispatch of finished goods with different packaging methods like CFB, Plastic and VCI bags, Drums, Boxes or Crates, Pallets with container utilization received from Plant. Responsible for providing Packaging signoff for all new programs - before customer. sign off on loop size (jointly along with Logistics expert) - FG and WIP packaging.
  • Lead the digital transformation of packaging processes, incorporating technologies like RFID, NFC, QR codes, sensors, and IoT-enabled smart packaging.
  • Collaborate with IT, Digitalisation Team, and manufacturing teams to implement packaging automation and digital workflow solutions.
  • Utilize data analytics and packaging software to optimize design, material usage, and production efficiency
  • Benchmarking of packing for similar products


Packaging Costing

  • Getting new packaging trends with cost optimizing
  • Frequently revisit the packaging standards - challenging and implementing VAVE with the objective of improving value proposition, reducing cost, enhancing its overall performance. Will conduct VAVE Workshop with customers/vendors.
  • Responsible for giving inputs for packaging procurement wrt specification to optimize packaging cost, supplier selection process.
  • Responsible to conduct ZBC costing analysis (Zero basis cost) of Packing material.

Documentation

  • Prepare and provide SOP to PM and Launch Team on best packaging practices Including practices on packing (how to pack) handling material and how to place the packed material inside the container.


Testing & Validation

  • Conduct transit trials to check strength for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging material during transportation.
  • Testing of competitive packaging material and provide assistance in development of specifications.
  • Is responsible to conduct frequent packaging audits to ensure upkeep of packaging norms.
  • Responsible to define material maintenance guidelines -and audit to ensure implementation of guidelines.


Current Product packaging Improvements

  • Ensuring packaging related PPM reduction (incident, damage, scrap for internal as well as external logistics containers)
  • Ensuring ergonomics in packaging design
  • ensuring robustness/ safety/ ease of operation while defining packaging norms
  • standardization of packaging parameters across Varroc Eng: In case of trolleys/metal pallets - square tube size and gauge, wheel type clearance from ground, stack ability with safety aspect of not toppling etc
  • Ensuring packaging definition to improve vehicle loading density.
  • Coordinating with marketing, Quality, & PM organization / Plant / NPD teams to understand various packaging aspects of product.
  • Generate Ideas and Improve Process to Lower Packaging Cost & create a robust packaging Norms in line with latest trends
