Optiver is looking for a HR Business Partner who wants to challenge themselves by working in an exciting, fast-paced global trading firm in the newly established Mumbai office. This will be a standalone role supporting the entire Mumbai office, however, you will work closely with our wider APAC HR function. You will cover all areas of the employee life cycle as well as helping design and improve our people processes as we grow. Projects on a regional scale will be an opportunity to partner with the business to design and deliver the people agenda for the Mumbai office.

In Asia Pacific, Optiver was one of the first global market makers to establish a presence in the region, with the incorporation our Sydney office in 1996. Since then, we have expanded our footprint by establishing offices in Taipei (2005), Hong Kong (2007), Shanghai (2012) and Singapore (2021). The business in Mumbai is newly established and deemed to be an integral part of the APAC strategy, with an anticipation of significant growth over the coming years.

What you'll do

As our HR Business Partner you will be responsible for partnering with the Mumbai Managing Director and driving strategic people agenda items through a variety of initiatives and projects:

Act as the key HR contact for the Mumbai office, providing day to day support to the Mumbai office – individual contributors and leaders Collaborate with the APAC HR Business Partnering Team to develop strategic HR initiatives to achieve the APAC people strategy Implement global/regional and local HR initiatives, providing proactive input to ensure local nuances are captured Partner, consult and coach leaders through the employee lifecycle such as onboarding, performance management, engagement, coaching, employee relations, talent planning, offboarding. Provide 1:1 coaching to onshore leaders to enhance their leadership development and embed leadership development initiatives Coach and partner with leaders to facilitate and effectively lead their people through organisational change Demonstrate a solid overview of local employment legislation and best practice process/ policies Maintain an understanding of the employment landscape and a view of what's happening on the horizon to stay abreast of local employment legislation Provide experienced, commercial and pragmatic advice and recommended action/s related to employee relations to drive successful outcomes Engage and collaborate with the APAC HR Operations team to iterate, improve and implement people processes and cyclical employee lifecycle events Manage and support local onshore HR Operational requirements Develop, iterate and facilitate onshore training requirements for staff and leaders Lead the local onboarding of new hires in partnership with the hiring manager Seek feedback and identify areas for improvement within the employee experience Leverage people data and insights to support business decision making and impact Act as the HR representative on the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

Who you are

We are looking for a dynamic, highly ambitious self-starter who will bring energy, drive and perseverance to guide the organization in the right direction.

At least 10+ years' experience in a HR generalist or business partnering role Strong experience in employee relations and case management Track record of building key stakeholder relationships, influencing great business outcomes and coaching leaders via quality conversations Exposure to developing key people strategies, leading projects and delivering results through these initiatives. Involvement in performance management, goal setting and coaching Experienced in organizational development with a focus on communication skills, change management, leadership development, systems and thinking. Experience in implementing strategies, initiatives, processes and measurement the impact Strong capability to partner with leaders in driving a high-performance culture, diversity and inclusion and mental health and wellbeing across the organization.
