The APAC S&T Director / Sr Director will take the leadership of building an innovation pipeline for S&T projects across Asia and lead the creation of an innovation portfolio via partnerships with academic institutions and other innovation hubs, with the goal of creating novels and advanced products for Danaherâs growth franchises.

You will work collaboratively with multiple Business Strategy and R&D leaders across Danaherâs Platforms and Operating Companies (OpCoâs) to launch Danaher Ventures (equity investment), Pioneer (venture creation), Beacon (sponsored academic research) and/or Nexus (intrapreneurship) projects, and to ensure that IP created through these strategic partnerships is properly advanced to new products.

You will be part of our Corporate Science & Technology team, reporting to the Vice President, S&T Innovation & Head Equity Ventures, Asia, responsible for the APAC region, especially Singapore, India, and Japan. This role will be located in Singapore â Remote.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Take leadership in building an innovation pipeline across Asia in Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, and Diagnosis. Managing the identification, evaluation, and cultivation of potential partners, which includes developing an engagement and partnership strategy with innovation hubs, including academic centers, consortiums, and incubators.

  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders like R&D leaders in OpCoâs and Platform CTOs, act as a liaison, to ensure the business invests in technologies and capabilities needed to stay ahead of the competition and maintain/gain S&T leadership in areas of strategic importance, by developing a framework and standard work procedures to successfully identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and innovation in our S&T and innovation portfolio.

  • Lead and coordinate strategic partnerships with key academic centers across Asia to improve S&T innovation pipeline success for Danaher; Cultivate a network of external academic KOLs/institutions/science parks to access strategic technology/innovative concepts.

  • Lead and coordinate the development of research plans in collaboration with our academic collaborators and define clear milestone-based execution and funding strategies that could lead to the creation of novel IP.

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external Legal counsels to develop IP strategies.

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and novel metric models to evaluate the success of innovation strategies and return on investment.

  • Apply the Danaher Business System to develop and improve standard workaround intra- and entrepreneurship.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Post-advanced degree in Innovation Strategies/New Concept Creation and Prototyping/Investment/New Venture creation in academia and industry settings, with a minimum 8 years of relevant experience in venture capital, M&A, and strategy development.

  • Deep understanding and proven experience in leveraging and sourcing technologies in Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis, and Digital/AI/ML across Asia.

  • Program Management and Alliance Management processes for internal and external R&D activities driving technological due diligence, valuation, and licensing deals, especially in leading, managing, and driving innovation initiatives for multiple technologies at various stages of development.

  • Outstanding conversational, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to synthesize multiple data points to create a strategic point of view that can be communicated in a simple message; Ability to negotiate and execute in/out-licenses and service agreements.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and mobilize people across the organization while learning quickly and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

  • Has established networks across scientific/biotech/pharma/academic communities and knows the leading innovation ecosystems.

  • Possess a process-orientated mindset with a deep enthusiasm for technology innovation. Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and creative problem-solver.
