The Purpose of This Role

: – The system operator monitors and controls the operation of the mainframe hardware and software. The operator starts and stops system tasks, monitors the system consoles for unusual conditions, and works with the system programming and production control staff to ensure the health and normal operation of the systems. The team’s endeavor has been to provide increased value to our partners through operational excellence and innovation with a focus on stability.

The Value You Deliver

Expert level knowledge on IBM-Z series HMC, consoles (direct attached, IP based consoles). Monitoring & Maintaining Mainframe LPARS and handling all disk, tape, and network related alerts. Managing scheduled and unscheduled outages – Mainframe subsystems (DB2, Detector, CICS, Sysview, zOS, JES2, WAS, MQ, TSO, and various program products). Good understanding of IPLs and rebooting all HW (CPU, Disk, tape and related network devices) and Clock changes. Good understanding of monitoring and managing the mainframe capacity (dynamic, static) and memory management. Good understanding of all Mainframe subsystem message IDs. Good understanding of managing the JES spool (devices, utilization). Demonstrated working knowledge of scheduling tools – Control M/CA7/ ESP etc. Demonstrated experience in ITIL processes.

Good verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills, ability to maintain good working relationships with India and onsite partner teams. Must have critical thinking ability. Must be able to act as a team player as well as work independently. Adhere to all FIDELITY standard operating procedures (e.g. Change Control, Problem Management, etc) Must be a quick learner and adapt to new tools and technologies. Project management capability would be an added advantage. Willingness to work off hours as per company standards.

The Skills that are Good To Have for this role

Understanding of datacenter architecture. Network – TCP/IP, switches (Brocade/Cisco). Handling SRTs (Service Restoration Team) and RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) of abends.
