LCCI Market Research and Forecasting –Team Lead, Japan

Eli Lilly has a broad portfolio of in-market and near-launch brands. Brand and marketing teams rely on strong market research support to understand brand performance, identify new opportunities, create marketing plans, and recommend tactical adjustments, if necessary. 

IBU affiliates are continuing to look for avenues to expand the horizons of value and hence the LCCI team is ramping up the international business unit (IBU) -Japan engagement. We are looking for a Team Lead to provide thought leadership to a team of talented Market Research and Forecasting professionals. The vision for this role is to help grow, stabilize, and penetrate the engagement further, to help expand the capabilities and drive global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

“Hands-on” Project Execution & Delivery: 50% time commitment Partner with Lilly market researchers based in the Japan BUs for high-quality execution and on-time delivery of the market research projects covering the spectrum of activities including Pivotal (secondary) and Primary research, social listening, and ForecastingServes as a trusted advisor by actively participating in various phases of the project including kick-off, approach development, execution, insight generation, and data visualizationsFor assigned projects may be required to:Communicate with stakeholders to present the final outputs and provide recommendations.Manage the data collection process with external agency partners to ensure data integrity and on-time delivery.Provide appropriate context for study findings based on prior market research, including secondary sources.Attention to detail in every step of the market research process to ensure accurate, on-time deliverables. Transformation & Innovation: 10-20-time commitment Identify projects related to Innovation and Continuous ImprovementDrive new capabilities within the teamWork in close collaboration with internal commercial services functions (Analytics and Data Science) and external vendors to advance initiatives aiming to drive integrated insights, new capabilities, and operational excellence Portfolio and People Management: 10-20%-time commitment Portfolio ManagementEnsures quality, speed, value, and compliance throughout the market research and forecasting value chainEnsures all research complies with company compliance policies.Establishes project management for seamless project execution, prioritization, and high-quality delivery from the teamAllocates projects to team members to operate a full capacitySupports creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality checklists that will enable excellent quality outputs for all outputs within the functionFacilitates shared learning forums to identify challenges and establish best practices across the teamContinues to expand the market research capability of the team by taking on more complex projects and delivering valueIdentifies improvement opportunities and implementation of analytics & research best practices People ManagementLives the Lilly Leadership Principles: Connect with People, Be Determined, and Drive Continuous ImprovementEmbraces and champions changeIdentifies, recruits, and selects top talent; manages new-hire onboardingMonitors employee engagement and team healthUtilizes myPM process to operationalize organizational goals for team membersPartners with direct reports to create individual development planning/action planningServes as a trusted career advisor, and works with Indy and LCCI based Leadership and LCCI HR to identify career opportunities as appropriateCoaches team members using the Lilly coaching framework by encouraging two-way dialogue and open feedback, listening actively, being flexible, and identifying knowledge, skill, and performance gapsProvides consultative value and removes barriers so the team can focus on prioritized work and provide

Education Requirements : MBA/Post Graduation in quantitative discipline from a reputed institution, or equivalent education and experience

Experience related requirements

10-12 years of market research and/or forecasting experience with a demonstrated ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment. 2+ years of experience in coaching and mentoring individuals Minimum 1.5 years tenure in current role Strong experience in the Japanese pharma industry is required Proficiency in Japanese language will be an advantage Technical SkillsStrong critical and analytical thinking skillsStrong forecasting, research, and analytical skillsExperience in methodologies such as segmentation, end-to-end concept testingExperience in data visualization tools such as Tableau/ Power BIAdvanced MS-office skills (MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint) Soft SkillsAbility to showcase people's agility while dealing with peers/ direct reportsStrong work ethic, personal motivation, and team player who is dynamic and result-orientedGood presentation skills, interpersonal and communication skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to influence others.Ability to operate in a matrix environment, with ability to work across time zones
