Job Description

Role Purpose:

  • Act as a transport & warehousing subject matter expert for crop protection across the region, leading the strategy and operations for local distribution, ensuring processes are run efficiently and HSEQ standards are met.
  • Support domestic transport & warehousing activities and act as an expert to provide technical advice to AMEA commercial units to improve logistics operating standards and propose appropriate operating model to support local GTM strategies (internal and/or 3PL partnership)
  • Oversee performance of logistics operations in AMEA countries, collaborating with 3PL, 4PL and internal teams for the management of warehouse and distribution centers, inbound deliveries, transfer of goods between sites and delivery of goods to customers on time, in full, with the right quality and at the optimum cost, complying with country relevant laws and Syngenta’s internal policies
  • Improve processes for receiving, storing, shipping, and delivering products to meet customer needs, developing plans for reducing operating costs while maintaining high quality standards for products and services offered
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international and local dangerous goods regulations applicable in AMEA plus Syngenta’s applicable Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) standards and codes of practice (CoP)
  • Provide guidance for country warehouses and distributors audits and support improvement plans.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the regional (overland) transport & warehousing strategy in support of country operating model and GTM strategy. Develop associated roadmap and improvement plans to optimize performance and cost to serve
  • Work with country logistics and logistics category mgmt. to define appropriate requirements for the selection of transport & warehousing providers and implement ways of working with new providers, including onboarding into Syngenta processes and policies
  • Build a framework to share best practices between country logistics teams to optimize capacity, inventory, and costs. Provide guidance to country logistics teams in charge of warehouse operations including logistics processes required to support production operations (site logistics)
  • Monitor performance of transport providers and warehouses by defining a standard set of KPIs and ensuring compliance with Syngenta CoPs regulations and certifications. Support countries to address deviations versus agreed service levels, proposing, and driving the implementation of improvements.
  • Continuously ensure AMEA distribution activities are in compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework (incl. international and national dangerous goods regulations) as well as Syngenta's own legal and ethical, HSE, corporate security, risk management and corporate governance standards, providing guidance on implementation of applicable regulatory changes.
  • Develop plan for independent auditing of 3rd party warehouses and transporter/distributors with in-country HSE and distribution safety advisors. Track completion of post-audit improvement plans
  • Support countries to manage and improve country logistics cost in line with annual logistics budgets (primary in-country and secondary variable distribution cost). Establish monthly logistics cost tracking report together with P&S finance and follow quarterly delivery of in-country logistics savings.
  • Ensure stock management processes are in place in relevant warehouses, supporting countries in periodic stock reconciliation processes, preparing, and running the physical inventory count and organizing destruction services when required. Timely inform about capacity shortages and manage corrective actions
  • Support the implementation of global transformation projects for logistics in AMEA which contribute to the improvement of transport and warehousing processes and systems (e.g. TMS, WMS) in collaboration with regional CoE and IT depts.

Qualifications

Critical Knowledge (Education/ Development expected for Job)

  • Expert knowledge of logistics processes (import / export, warehouse, transport)
  • Advanced knowledge of supply and logistics tools (SAP, TMS, EDWH, Excel)
  • Advanced knowledge of transport regulations, trained and certified in IMDG, IATA, & GHS.
  • Advanced understanding of HSE issues facing the transport of Dangerous Goods.
  • University graduated (chemical engineer, business school, supply chain or equivalent)
  • Proficient in English, any other language is a plus

Critical Experience (Experience/Previous Roles required for Job)

  • At least 5 - 10 years working experience in a sizeable organization
  • Previous role in logistics as responsible of delivery process, managing transport providers, distribution HSE
  • Supplier and customer facing experience
  • Previous experience working with TMS and 3PL or 4PL services would be an advantage
  • Previous experience as import / export or warehouse manager would be an advantage.
  • Project and change management experience would be an advantage
