Our utility client in downtown NYC is looking fora Cyber Security Engineer for 12months for a 5 days a week onsiterole.

Must Have:


Bachelors degree in Computer ScienceInformation Security or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 35 years of handson experience in cyber security systemadministration or a related role. Proven experience in cybersecurity & system administration including Windows Linux andcloud platforms (AWS Azure Oracle).
Strong knowledge ofnetworking protocols firewalls and intrusion detection/preventionsystems.

Familiarity withbulk deployment tools and automation. Scripting or programmingskills (Python PowerShell Bash) for automation is aplus.
Knowledge of encryption authentication and accesscontrol mechanisms.
Experience working with distributedsystems and microservices architectures.
Experience withnetwork security tools such as NIDS/NIPS/Proxy/Secure WebGateway/Firewall.
Experience with AV/EDR/XDRsolutions.
Excellent problemsolving skills and attentionto detail. Versatility adaptability and a willingness to learn newtechnologies.
Excellent communication skills and abilityto collaborate with crossfunctional teams.

Nice to Have:
Certifications such asCISSP CEH or CompTIA Security are a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION
PositionOverview:
We are seeking a skilled andexperienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our team on a contractbasis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systemadministration bulk deployment working with distributed systems adeep understanding of networking principles network security andincident response along with proficiency in tools such as EDR/XDRSIEM and SOAR. As a Cyber Security Engineer you will play a crucialrole in safeguarding our organizations digital assets ensuringcompliance with security policies and proactively identifying andmitigating cyber threats.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to designimplement and maintain security solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze security logs alerts andincidents.
  • Bring fresh perspectives andinnovative ideas to enhance our security posture.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and riskassessments.
  • Creating metrics on securitytools coverage across the organization.
  • Configure and manage EDR/XDR solutions to detect andrespond to security incidents on endpoints.
  • Develop and enforce security policies standards and bestpractices.
  • Investigate and respond to securityincidents including incident containment and recovery.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to resolvesecurity/operational incidents promptly.
  • Maintenance and upkeeping of security systems includingsecurity patching/system upgrades.
  • Participatein security architecture reviews and providerecommendations.
  • Communicate effectively withtechnical and nontechnical stakeholders translating complexsecurity concepts into actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security proceduresconfigurations and incident response playbooks.
  • Stay uptodate with emerging threats vulnerabilities andsecurity technologies.
