Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Publishing & Prepress with a strong background in Trials & Estimation to join our creative services team. The ideal candidate will evaluate prepress and publishing workflows, conduct trials for new projects, and provide precise cost estimations. This role demands a deep understanding of prepress processes, file preparation, print production standards, and publishing workflows to ensure top-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trials & Process Evaluation: Conduct prepress trials to evaluate feasibility, quality, and turnaround time. Identify workflow challenges and document best practices.
  • Estimation & Cost Analysis: Analyse project requirements, production time, and materials to provide accurate cost estimates and cost-effective solutions.
  • Workflow Optimization & Automation: Enhance efficiency by automating prepress workflows, standardizing file preparation, and integrating AI-driven tools.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure prepress output meets industry standards, perform quality checks, and adhere to client specifications.
  • Collaboration & Training: Work closely with teams and vendors, train staff on best practices, and stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in publishing, prepress, or print production, with a focus on trials.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), PitStop, and other prepress tools.
  • Experience with PDF preflighting, colour management, imposition, and print ready file preparation.
  • Familiarity with automation tools for prepress workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work in rotational shifts.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interactions and team coordination. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced experience in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) for prepress and publishing workflows.
  • Knowledge of printing, digital print workflows, and automation tools.
  • Understanding of AI-driven prepress automation and workflow enhancements.
  • Experience in newspaper, magazine, or book publishing processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
