Business Function

Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Elasticsearch clusters
  • Develop and optimize Elasticsearch queries for efficient data retrieval
  • Integrate Elasticsearch with other systems, such as Kibana, Logstash, or custom applications
  • Monitor Elasticsearch performance and health, including cluster state, indexing, and search performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Elasticsearch-related issues
  • Implement security best practices (e.g., role-based access control, encryption)
  • Work on data ingestion pipelines using tools like Logstash, Beats, or custom scripts
  • Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and system administrators to improve search and analytics capabilities
  • Maintain backups and disaster recovery processes for Elasticsearch clusters
  • Write documentation and provide training or support to end users.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Elasticsearch architecture and APIs
  • Proficiency in query DSL and scripting for Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with related tools in the Elastic Stack (Kibana, Logstash, Beats)
  • Understanding of distributed systems and cluster management
  • Experience with performance tuning and scaling Elasticsearch clusters
  • Knowledge of JSON, RESTful APIs, and possibly some scripting languages (Python, Bash)
  • Familiarity with Linux system administration and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Elastic APM, Grafana, or Prometheus
  • Experience in large-scale data environments is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Typically min 10yrs working with Elasticsearch or search technologies.
