Job Title: General Manager Mergers & Acquisitions (Domestic)

Reports To: Director / Head – Corporate Strategy / Managing Director

Position Overview:

The General Manager – Mergers & Acquisitions (Domestic) will lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of merger, acquisition, divestiture, and strategic investment opportunities within the Indian pharmaceutical market. The incumbent will play a key role in driving inorganic growth strategies to strengthen the company's product portfolio, market presence, and manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement the M&A strategy aligned with the company's business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Identify and evaluate domestic acquisition targets, strategic partnerships, and joint ventures in the pharmaceutical and allied sectors.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and financial benchmarking to support strategic decisions.

2. Deal Sourcing & Evaluation

  • Source potential acquisition opportunities through industry networks, advisors, and internal teams.
  • Evaluate strategic fit, synergy potential, and risk factors of target companies.
  • Lead preliminary discussions and relationship management with promoters, advisors, and stakeholders.

3. Financial & Commercial Analysis

  • Oversee financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence processes (commercial, legal, tax, and operational).
  • Prepare investment proposals, business cases, and presentations for management and board approvals.
  • Coordinate with external consultants (investment bankers, legal, tax advisors, etc.) during the transaction process.

4. Transaction Execution

  • Drive end-to-end M&A execution including negotiation, structuring, and closure of deals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SEBI, RBI, Competition Commission of India, etc.).
  • Manage post-merger integration planning in coordination with cross-functional teams (finance, HR, operations, legal).

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with senior leadership, finance, strategy, and legal teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Represent the company in discussions with target promoters, bankers, and advisors.
  • Prepare reports and updates for the Board and senior management on deal pipeline and progress.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: MBA in Finance / Strategy / CA / CFA.
  • Experience: 15–20 years of total experience with at least 7–10 years in M&A within the pharma / healthcare / life sciences industry.
  • Proven track record of successful domestic deal closures, integrations, and partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian pharmaceutical market, regulatory landscape, and valuation methodologies.
