Primary Transportation Asst Manager

Responsibilities

  • Manage primary transportation for all production shipments to end-users.
  • Plan and supervise shipments, scheduling daily and weekly routes.
  • Monitor, report, and control transportation costs.
  • Ensure all shipping and transportation documents are accurately filed.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective shipping methods.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant shipping legislation.
  • Stay informed about current safety regulations in logistics and transportation.
  • Use and manage E-auction and TMS tools, such as Ariba, Pando, Caliper, Gobolt, SAP TMS.
  • Manage daily operations and live usage of TMS software to optimize routing and shipment tracking.
  • Supervise, guide, and train transportation staff.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve transport operational issues.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Transportation Manager, Shipping Manager, or similar role (minimum 7 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Experience in preparing and tracking customer, shipment, and transporter orders.
  • Proficiency in logistics and transportation management software.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, and staff training abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  1. Contracting: Lead all contracting activities with transporters and service providers.
  2. Onboarding: Facilitate efficient onboarding of new transporters.

  3. KPI Monitoring:

  4. Vehicle indent vs. placement tracking.

  5. Tracking and reconciliation of daily vehicle indent and placement.
  6. Tracking debit/penalties against service shortfalls.
  7. Monitoring business share among transport partners.
  8. Overseeing daily bidding and auction activities for primary transportation assignments.
