Billing & Charge Management
  • Review, verify, and submit inpatient charges in accordance with hospital policies and payer guidelines.

  • Ensure all services, procedures, and supplies are accurately captured and billed.

  • Reconcile patient accounts against clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.

  • Monitor and resolve charge discrepancies, missing charges, and coding queries.

Audit & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct routine audits of patient charts, charge capture data, and billing reports.

  • Identify billing errors, trends, or compliance risks, and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements and reimbursement standards.

Coordination & Communication
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, coders, and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate charge capture and clarification of clinical documentation.

  • Communicate with insurance verification teams and case management regarding authorization issues or billing impacts.

  • Provide timely updates to management on billing status, backlogs, and exceptions.

Denial Management & Follow-Up
  • Assist in identifying root causes of claim denials related to inpatient billing.

  • Work with coding and appeals teams to correct errors and resubmit claims.

  • Track denial trends and recommend process improvements.

Leadership & Staff Support
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to Patient Care Officers and billing staff.

  • Support training, onboarding, and competency development for new team members.

  • Provide guidance on complex billing cases or escalated issues.

Reporting & Data Management
  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly billing performance reports as required.

  • Track productivity, error rates, and aging of inpatient accounts.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in alignment with hospital standards.

Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all work complies with hospital policies, payer rules, health authority regulations, and data privacy laws.

  • Stay updated on changes in billing regulations, DRG/APC structures, and payer requirements.

  • Participate in audits, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
