About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Associate to manage and oversee legal cases related to debt collection. The ideal candidate will work closely with the collections team, ensuring that all legal procedures are followed to recover outstanding debts efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

What you will do

  • Handle and manage legal cases pertaining to debt collection from initiation to resolution.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including notices, summons, and court petitions.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and collection agencies as needed.
  • Analyze and assess legal risks associated with collection cases and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection-related legal proceedings and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies related to debt collection and recovery.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement meetings related to collection cases.
  • Provide legal advice and support to the collections team regarding disputes and litigation strategies.
  • Monitor case progress and ensure timely closure of cases.

What you will need

  • Bachelors degree in Law LLB.
  • Proven experience (3+) in handling legal cases related to collections, debt recovery, or commercial litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of debt collection laws, court procedures, and legal documentation.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and case management tools.
