About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production & Costing In-Charge for our printing operations in Kinshasa, DR Congo. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in offset printing, plus working knowledge of digital and large format printing.

You will be responsible for managing the costing department and assisting in the production department from manpower allocation, machine troubleshooting, and quality control to job costing, materials procurement, and waste reduction. This is a leadership role requiring a results-driven mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to work in a fast-paced international environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight & Planning

• Oversee all printing operations, ensuring machines produce high-quality output on time.
• Plan, allocate, and monitor jobs in coordination with the planning team.

• Ensure efficient scheduling to meet delivery deadlines.

• Sourcing of parts and organising engineers.

Costing & Materials Management

• Accurately calculate job costing for all print production jobs.
• Control production budgets and reduce wastage to improve profitability.
• Oversee procurement of inks, paper, and consumables, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
• Manage store inventory and maintain accurate stock records.

Staff & Operations Management

• Lead, train, and manage a team of 70 staff, including supervisors and operators.
• Enforce discipline, safety, and adherence to SOPs.
• Provide regular training to improve technical and operational skills.

Technical & Process Management

• Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues promptly.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Maintain process parameters for consistent production quality.

Quality & Efficiency Control

• Approve job plans and ensure adherence to production quality standards.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring issues.
• Maintain documentation for compliance and audits.

Housekeeping & Safety

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness across the production department.
• Enforce safety protocols, uniform policies, and break schedules.

Reporting

• Provide daily production and costing reports to the General Manager Operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in the offset printing industry, preferably in a commercial printing press.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in offset printing; working knowledge of digital and large format printing.
• Costing Skills: Ability to calculate accurate job costs and manage production budgets.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage large teams and deliver results.
• Business Mindset: Strong commercial acumen with a focus on profitability.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ERP systems.
• Problem Solving: Quick and effective decision-making under pressure.
• Age: 25–45 years.
• Languages: English fluency required; French an advantage.
• Personal Traits: Energetic, proactive, disciplined, and adaptable.
• Lifestyle: Non-drinker and non -smoker; physically fit and healthy.
• Preferred Background: Experience in Africa is an advantage but not mandatory.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Range: USD 1,000 – 1,200 per month (negotiable based on experience).
• Accommodation: Company-provided shared housing in a large, fully furnished home with TV, domestic help, and a cook.
• Facilities: Gym access, company transport, and security services.
• Location Safety: Kinshasa is a relatively safe city for expatriates.

• Commitment: Minimum 2-year contract.
• Adaptability: Must adjust easily to Congo's work culture and lifestyle.
• Refundable Deposit: INR 50,000 payable upon offer acceptance, refunded within 7 days of arrival in DR Congo.
