Analyst - Fees & Expense Management

Job Overview:

The incumbent will join the Fees & Expense Management department, where they will be responsible for analyzing and reconciling various fees related to Brokerage, Clearing, and Exchange services in line with client service-level agreements.

The role involves understanding and calculating various fees and handling tasks related to static reference data and rate maintenance for Equities products. A significant part of the role involves collaborating with internal teams and external vendors such as client counterparts, Exchanges and brokers. The role also involves optimization of costs and processes, reducing setup errors, improving data quality, and automating manual tasks which calls for collaboration with number of internal teams such as Projects, Development, Quality Assurance and Business Analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain and model fee agreements publicly available and maintain in our software solution.
• Ability to decode complex fee calculations into simple, explainable equations.
• Develop thorough understanding of exchange traded products and detail unique methods of deriving cost that are detailed in the fee agreement.
• Deep understanding of transaction cost management and investment banking workflows.
• Advanced knowledge of how trades are processed from initiation to settlement - advanced understanding of trade lifecycle
• Payables and Receivables Processes Thorough understanding of both sides of financial operations.
• Data Presentation Skills Strong analytical thinking and ability to present data clearly and effectively.
• Timeline Management Ensuring deliverables are met within agreed timelines with internal and external stakeholders.
• Understand fee schedules for Equity exchanges and brokers.
• Utilize the SmartStream Fees & Expense Management solution to match client data, identifying and resolving exceptions through a structured dispute management process.
• Investigate client and vendor inquiries across a wide range of areas, including invoices calculations, fees, volumes, and global exchanges.
• Collaborate with external vendors and clients to resolve disputes and address any discrepancies.
• Ensure all SLAs are adhered to and escalate any critical issues in a timely manner.
• Engage in client and stakeholder management
• Analyse existing systems and procedures, providing recommendations for enhancements. Work with internal teams to resolve data quality issues and optimize systems and processes.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
• Engage in Functional User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• 5 plus years of experience in financial services or capital markets.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction across various levels of internal management and external stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of investment banking, derivatives, and related products, along with knowledge of the Trade Lifecycle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a critical-thinking mindset.
• A self-starter with excellent time management, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
• Prior experience in reconciliation related to Brokerage, Clearing and Exchange domain is an advantage.
• Prior experience in reference data management and understanding on equity rates is an advantage.

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of SQL, Macros, Tableau and Public exchanges across globe.

Educational Requirements:

A graduate or post-graduate degree in a relevant field such as Banking or Financial Services.
