Deputy Quality Manager

Key Responsibilities

  1. Quality System Management

  2. Maintain and improve quality management systems (ISO, IATF, etc.)

  3. Ensure that all procedures, work instructions and quality standards are followed

  4. Incoming Material Inspection

  5. Evaluate and approve raw materials, components and suppliers for compliance

  6. Conduct audits of supplier quality, corrective actions where needed

  7. Process Quality Control

  8. Monitor and analyze process parameters in plastic moulding / extrusion / blow moulding to ensure product consistency

  9. Set & maintain quality checkpoints, conduct inspections (first piece, in-process, final)

  10. Defect Analysis & Problem Solving

  11. Root cause analysis of quality issues (using tools like 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, etc.)

  12. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  13. Quality Metrics & Reporting

  14. Track metrics such as scrap / rework rate, defect rate, yield, PPAP / control plan adherence

  15. Prepare quality reports, present findings to leadership, suggest improvement plans

  16. Customer & Internal Audits

  17. Manage customer complaints / non-conformances, coordinate with customer visits / audits

  18. Drive internal audits, manage audit findings

  19. Team Leadership & Training

  20. Lead and mentor quality team (inspectors, quality engineers)

  21. Conduct / arrange training programs on quality tools, best practices

  22. Continuous Improvement

  23. Lead initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ)

  24. Participate in lean / Six Sigma / Kaizen projects to enhance efficiency and quality

  25. Documentation & Compliance

  26. Ensure documentation is maintained properly (quality records, calibration, traceability)

  27. Ensure compliance with safety, environment, regulatory standards related to plastics

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of plastic processing and related quality issues (warpage, shrinkage, surface defects, dimensional tolerances, etc.)
  • Good understanding of moulds, tools, processing machines and defects specific to plastics
  • Proficient in quality tools / methodologies (SPC, Statistical Process Control; capability studies; quality audits)
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good communication skills (to interact with vendors, customers, internal teams)
  • Leadership: can manage a small team and drive ownership of quality

  • Reduction in scrap / rework percentage
  • Number of customer complaints / rejections
  • On-time delivery of defect free parts
  • Audit scores (internal / external)
  • Process capability (Cp, Cpk)
  • Cost savings from quality improvement projects
