  • Mediate disputes among team members.
  • Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • 4. Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with labor laws and OSHA standards (especially important for physical work with animals).
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for certifications (animal care, grooming licenses, etc.).
  • Provide safety training (e.g., handling aggressive dogs, bite prevention, proper leash/harness techniques).
  • 5. Payroll & BenefitsManage payroll, time tracking, and scheduling.
  • Administer benefits like health insurance, paid time off, etc.
  • Handle worker's compensation claims, especially for injury risks related to animals.
  • 6. Performance ManagementSet and review performance goals.
  • Manage evaluations and feedback processes.
  • Handle promotions, disciplinary actions, or terminations as needed.
  • 7. Company Culture & EngagementOrganize staff appreciation events, team-building (dog-friendly, of course).
  • Support wellness initiatives for staff (especially important in high-energy, physically demanding roles).

  • Dog-Specific HR ConsiderationsAnimal Interaction Policies: Ensure all employees are trained on dog behavior, signs of stress, and emergency protocols.
  • Dog Incident Reporting: Maintain HR involvement in case of dog bites or injuries (to staff or clients).
  • Pet-Friendly Workplace Rules: If employees bring their dogs to work, HR may need to enforce policies on vaccinations, temperament, or leash usage.
  • Training Standards: Help verify that staff working with animals are properly trained and certified (e.g., force-free training methods, grooming safety).
