Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Patient Counselling

  • Provide clear and compassionate counselling to patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, and surgical procedures.
  • Explain pre-operative and post-operative instructions, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
  • Clarify doubts and help patients make informed decisions about their eye care.
  • Support patients emotionally, especially elderly or anxious individuals.

2. Surgical Counselling & Conversion

  • Explain different surgical options (e.g., cataract, LASIK, retina, glaucoma) and the technologies used.
  • Discuss package details, costs, insurance, and payment options.
  • Follow up with patients who have been advised surgery to facilitate decision-making.
  • Work with doctors and front office staff to maximize surgery conversion rates.

3. Coordination with Medical & Administrative Teams

  • Coordinate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and the operation theatre (OT) team for scheduling surgeries.
  • Communicate patient decisions and special requirements to the respective departments.
  • Ensure proper documentation of consent forms, surgery bookings, and payment receipts.

4. Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients on post-surgery care, medication schedules, and follow-up visits.
  • Distribute educational materials, brochures, or videos related to eye health and treatment.
  • Handle patient feedback and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate authority.

5. Administrative & Reporting Tasks

  • Maintain accurate counselling records, conversion reports, and daily MIS.
  • Track and report patient feedback, follow-up calls, and surgery status updates.
  • Participate in hospital awareness programs, camps, and outreach activities if required.
