A restaurant hostess is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for providing a warm welcome, managing reservations and waitlists, and escorting diners to their tables to ensure a positive dining experience. Key duties include answering phones, coordinating with staff, maintaining the reception area, and assisting servers during busy periods. Essential qualities for a hostess are strong communication, exceptional customer service, organization, multitasking abilities, and a friendly, professional demeanor. Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Greeting & Management:Welcome guests with a friendly demeanor, provide accurate wait time estimates, and manage reservations and walk-in guests.
  • Seating & Coordination:Escort guests to their assigned tables, optimize seating arrangements to balance server workload, and communicate with servers about table availability.
  • Customer Service:Answer phone calls and guest inquiries, provide information about the menu and restaurant offerings, and handle guest complaints or requests professionally.
  • Front-of-House Maintenance:Keep the reception area and dining room clean, organized, and tidy.
  • Staff Support:Assist waitstaff with various tasks during busy times, such as delivering menus, taking drink orders, or providing crayons and coloring books for children.
