A trainee engineer's responsibilities include:

  • Observing and improving
    Trainee engineers observe engineering methods and practices, and offer recommendations for improvement. They may also observe existing strategies and techniques. 


  • Compiling data
    Trainee engineers may compile project data to create reports for managers and other stakeholders. 


  • Attending meetings
    Trainee engineers may attend meetings to learn about project requirements, timelines, and budgets. 


  • Maintaining compliance
    Trainee engineers may maintain compliance with health and safety guidelines. 


  • Working with others
    Trainee engineers may work in teams with other professionals, such as technicians, engineers, and managers. They may also assist other engineers or managers as needed.
