JD for Senior Snowflake & SQL Data Modeler

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Snowflake and SQL Data Modeler to join our Data and Analytics team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on expert in designing, implementing, and optimizing data models within the Snowflake cloud data platform. This role is essential for creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance data architecture to support our business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

●      
Data Modeling & Architecture:

Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance logical and physical data models (e.g., Dimensional, Star Schema, Data Vault) within Snowflake.

●      
Advanced SQL Development:

Write, optimize, and review complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions (UDFs) to support data transformation, analytics, and reporting requirements.

●      
ETL/ELT Pipeline Development:

Design, build, and optimize robust ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) data pipelines to ingest and transform data from various source systems into the Snowflake Data Cloud.

●      
Performance Tuning:

Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing Snowflake warehouse configurations, query performance, and data clustering for cost and speed efficiency.

●      
Data Governance & Quality:

Implement data governance frameworks and security measures, including role-based access control (RBAC), and define data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data integrity.

●      
Collaboration & Mentorship:

Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

●      
Documentation:

Create and maintain technical documentation for data models, ETL processes, and data dictionaries.

Required Qualifications & Skills

● years of experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, or a similar role.

● years of hands-on experience designing and building solutions specifically on the
Snowflake Cloud Data Platform

●      Expert-level proficiency in
advanced SQL

and demonstrated expertise in
dimensional and relational data modeling

.

●      Experience with data integration tools and technologies for ingesting data into Snowflake (e.g., Fivetran, Stitch).

●      Proficiency with data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio, Power Designer) is a plus.

●      Experience with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related data services.

●      Knowledge of programming languages like Python or Scala for data processing and scripting is beneficial.

●      Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
