Inward Quality Checker

Job Summary The Inward Quality Checker is responsible for inspecting and verifying all incoming raw materials, components, or polymer products delivered by suppliers before these are accepted into inventory or used in production. The person ensures that materials meet required specifications, standards, and documentation, so as to maintain product quality and minimize defects in downstream processes.

• Key Responsibilities Inspect and verify incoming raw materials, polymer granules, additives, components or packaging materials against the specifications (such as color, moisture, grade, dimensions, etc.).
• Check supplier documentation (Material Test Certificates, Certificates of Analysis, any required compliance or safety documents) to ensure they match what is delivered.
• Use measuring and testing tools (e.g. vernier calipers, micrometers, moisture meters, gauges) to measure dimensions, weight, moisture content or other relevant quality parameters.
• Perform visual inspections to identify defects such as contamination, discoloration, foreign particles, damage, moisture ingress, packaging issues etc.
• Quarantine or reject raw materials/components not meeting the required specifications, and report the non-conformance.
• Maintain clear, accurate records of all inspections: results, acceptance / rejection, deviations, supplier issues etc.
• Work closely with the procurement / supply chain and with suppliers to address quality issues, including feedback and corrective actions.
• Escalate repeated supplier quality problems or critical non-conformances to Quality Manager.
• Ensure that inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures, safe working practices, and any relevant quality standards / norms used by the company.
• Support continuous improvement: identify opportunities to reduce incoming defects, improve supplier performance, reduce inspection cycle times etc.
• Qualifications / Skills Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Polymer Technology, Chemistry, Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or similar preferred).
• 3 years experience in inward quality inspection / quality checking / QC in polymer / plastics manufacturing / related field.
• Good working knowledge of polymer materials: their properties, common defects, acceptable tolerances.
• Ability to read & interpret technical drawings, specifications, standards.
• Proficiency with measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, moisture meters, hardness testers etc.
• Basic understanding of documentation: MTCs, material certificates, compliance reports.
• Attention to detail & strong observational skills.
• Basic computer skills—MS Office (Excel, Word) for recording data, preparing reports.
• Good communication skills—able to liaise with suppliers, internal teams, report issues clearly.
• Ability to work under deadlines and maintain consistency.
• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Success MetricsIncoming material rejection rate (number or % of materials rejected vs accepted).
• Time taken for inspection / material release.
• Number of quality issues / defects caught at incoming stage (before usage).
• Supplier compliance / frequency of supplier corrective actions.
• Accuracy of inspection (minimal false acceptance or false rejections).
• Working Conditions & Other Details .The role is shop‑floor located: inspecting material handling, possibly in warehouses or near storage yards in sometimes dusty / polymer dust environment.
• May require lifting / handling of raw material bags, checking heavy containers etc.
• Shift timings / hours may depend on incoming material schedules.
• Adherence to safety norms: PPE, housekeeping, proper handling of equipment.
