The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users within the organization. This role ensures smooth functioning of desktops, laptops, operating systems, printers, and other IT-related hardware/software. The engineer troubleshoots issues, maintains system performance, and assists in the installation and configuration of IT equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Troubleshoot system errors and resolve user queries in a timely manner.
  • Manage user accounts, email setup, and access permissions.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, updates, and security patches.
  • Document technical issues and resolutions for future reference.
  • Collaborate with IT team for escalated support issues.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Assist in IT asset inventory management.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience in troubleshooting desktops, laptops, and printers.
  • Basic understanding of antivirus, firewalls, and system security.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred).
  • Diploma/Certification in Hardware & Networking (CompTIA A+, N+, MCSE, CCNA preferred).
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support or desktop support role.
