Summary:

UST is looking for Akamai – Sr Analyst

The Opportunity:

• Configure and maintain Akamai WAF (Kona Site Defender) policies to secure global websites from OWASP Top 10 threats
• Customize and deploy security configurations using Akamai Security Configuration APIs and templates
• Monitor real-time security s, attack trends, and apply mitigations using adaptive security rules
• Implement bot management and rate control policies to protect APIs, login endpoints, and form submissions
• Collaborate with InfoSec and DevOps teams to align WAF protections with internal threat models and security standards
• Configure rules for geo-blocking, IP reputation, header validation, and token-based access
• Integrate WAF policies into CI/CD pipelines using automation and version-controlled configurations

What you need:

• Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Akamai CDN in a large-scale, high-traffic environment

• Strong experience in handling Akamai WAF/Kona Site Defender in production environments

• Expertise in configuring custom rulesets to block SQLi, XSS, RFI, and credential stuffing attacks

• Proficient in managing security policy versions, rule staging, testing, and promoting to production.

• Knowledge of bot categories, detection mechanisms, and integration of Bot Manager rules
• Familiarity with EdgeSecurityPack, API protections, rate limiting, and DDoS mitigation strategies
• Experience with Security Configuration API, automated WAF updates, and integration with GitOps pipelines

Technologies:

• Akamai WAF, Kona Site Defender, Edge Security, Bot Manager, Akamai Property Manager, Security Configuration APIs

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of standard HTTP headers, origin behavior, TLS configurations, and edge security features
• Comfortable working with Property Manager to align WAF rules with edge delivery and site functionality
• Experience working in agile/scrum environments and cross-functional security-focused teams
