Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated After-Sales Service Expert / Engineer to provide top-tier technical support and maintenance for FPT high-horsepower engines HP). Based in [e.g., Chennai/Mumbai], you will work in the field, delivering diagnostics, repairs, and customer support to B2B clients across industries like power generation, construction, agriculture, and marine. This role is pivotal in maintaining ABES's commitment to excellence, ensuring FPT engines deliver optimal performance and client trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on FPT high HP engines (e.g., NEF, Cursor, F28 series) at client sites, ensuring minimal downtime for applications like generators, excavators, tractors, and marine propulsion systems. - Technical Diagnostics:
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., FPT proprietary software, multimeters, pressure gauges) to identify and resolve issues such as fuel system faults, turbocharger malfunctions, or ECU errors. - Customer Support:
Communicate repair processes and technical solutions clearly to clients, addressing concerns professionally to enhance satisfaction and trust. - Client Training:
Educate clients' operators or technicians on engine operation, maintenance best practices, and use of tools like the myFPT app to optimize performance and prevent issues. - Service Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of service activities, including fault codes, parts used, and repair outcomes, to support warranty claims and ABES's quality standards. - Parts Coordination:
Collaborate with ABES's supply chain team and FPT's global network to source and manage spare parts, ensuring timely availability for repairs. - Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to safety protocols (e.g., PPE usage, lockout-tagout) and ensure engines meet emissions standards (e.g., Stage V, Euro VI, IMO Tier III) post-service. - Feedback Contribution:
Provide field insights to ABES's technical team to improve service processes and support product enhancements. - Travel Requirements:
Travel to client sites across the region (e.g., Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu), including remote locations, to deliver on-site support as needed.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Educational Qualification:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field. - Experience:
5-10 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician or engineer working with high-horsepower engines (200+ HP) or heavy machinery in industries like power generation, construction, agriculture, or marine. - Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing high HP engines (diesel, gas, or hybrid), including systems like fuel injection, turbochargers, and cooling.
- Experience with diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD scanners, FPT software) and familiarity with emissions technologies (e.g., SCR, DPF).
- Field Service Expertise:
Ability to perform repairs in challenging field conditions (e.g., remote sites, time constraints) using portable tools (e.g., torque wrenches, hydraulic jacks). - Customer-Centric Approach:
Strong communication skills to explain technical details to non-technical clients and resolve issues with professionalism. - Adaptability and Problem-Solving:
Resourcefulness in troubleshooting with limited resources and flexibility to work in varied environments (e.g., extreme weather, remote locations). - Physical and Mental Resilience:
Capacity to handle physically demanding tasks and maintain composure under pressure to meet tight repair deadlines. - Certifications (Optional):
Certifications in diesel mechanics, electrical systems, or manufacturer-specific training (e.g., FPT, Cummins) are an advantage. - Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license, willingness to travel (30-50% of the time), and proficiency in English (regional languages like Hindi or Tamil are a plus).
