1Fi is India's first security-backed pay-later platform — redefining how consumers access credit. We enable users to unlock instant liquidity against their mutual fund investments and use it for zero-cost EMIs across partner merchants. Our mission is to make credit more inclusive, intelligent, and asset-backed — so that financially responsible individuals who invest don't have to depend on credit cards or unsecured loans to access short-term credit.

Role Description

As a Founding Engineer, you will be involved in designing and developing scalable, high-performance software systems. Daily responsibilities include architecture design, feature implementation, troubleshooting, code reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product alignment with business needs. You will play a critical role in shaping the technology direction and ensuring the scalability and security of our solutions. You will also mentor junior team members and contribute to technical decision-making as one of the foundational team members in the engineering department.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Backend Development, API Design, and Server Architecture
  • Front-End Development skills, including proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or
  • Experience with Databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and understanding Database Design principles
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms and Tools (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and familiarity with DevOps practices
  • Problem-solving abilities and experience in debugging and optimizing large-scale applications
  • Excellent coding and programming skills with an understanding of software development best practices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, preferably from Tier 1 institutions (e.g., IITs, BITs, NITs, etc.)
  • Experience in early-stage startups, scaling software systems, or fintech is a plus
  • Strong passion for building impactful, secure, and innovative software products
