POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Bankruptcy Specialist, you will manage loans in active bankruptcy status, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of all related processes. Key responsibilities include reviewing and updating bankruptcy records, preparing legal documents, reconciling account ledgers, and ensuring adherence to bankruptcy plans and service-level agreements (SLAs). This role requires strong expertise in bankruptcy payment application and a comprehensive understanding of the bankruptcy life cycle. You will report directly to the Bankruptcy Team Lead and collaborate with colleagues across all levels of the organization. Your attention to detail and subject-matter knowledge will be critical in safeguarding the integrity and accuracy of bankruptcy accounts.
JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately prepare account ledgers for bankruptcy accounts, ensuring all payments are applied per the BK plan and comply with strict deadlines to meet SLAs.
- Receive and update bankruptcy information daily.
- Prepare and file Proofs of Claim with bankruptcy courts by scheduled deadlines.
- Prepare Notices of Final Cure with bankruptcy courts by schedules deadlines.
- Document all bankruptcy accounts accurately per policy and procedures.
- Work closely with bankruptcy counsel, litigation counsel, and foreclosure teams for proper account treatment.
- Complete the assigned bankruptcy activities to ensure all accounts are handled properly.
- Ensure all bankruptcy procedures and documentation adhere to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure department and company goals and standards are achieved.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and communication with other departments.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to bankruptcy accounts promptly and effectively, utilizing strong problem-solving skills.
- Assist in training junior team members on bankruptcy processes and best practices, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance bankruptcy procedures and workflows, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- Perform closing reviews per requirements and complete account adjustments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION:
- Understanding of bankruptcy procedures is essential.
- Prior experience with bankruptcy payment application and preparing account ledgers for bankruptcy accounts is preferred.
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data from diverse sources daily to deliver recommendations and results.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to focus on short and long-term plans and goals.
- Negotiation skills are a plus.
- Skilled at identifying and recommending solutions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to unstructured and ambiguous situations.
- Detail-oriented and able to see the big picture.
