About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Specialist to manage and process bankruptcy cases involving client accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Bankruptcy Specialist will serve as the primary liaison between internal departments, external legal counsel, and courts, while supporting efforts to protect the organizations financial interests.

Key Responsibilities:

Bankruptcy Case Management

  • Review, process, and monitor bankruptcy filings, claims, and court documents.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of all bankruptcy cases in internal systems.
  • File proofs of claim, reaffirmation agreements, and other bankruptcy-related documentation.
  • Track case milestones (filings, hearings, discharges, dismissals, etc.) and ensure timely responses.

Legal & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all actions are in full compliance with bankruptcy laws, federal and state regulations (e.g., Chapter 7, 11, 13).
  • Collaborate with legal teams to interpret court orders and respond to trustee or attorney requests.
  • Maintain adherence to FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and other applicable regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certification in Bankruptcy Law, Paralegal Studies, or Financial Compliance.
  • Experience in a banking, credit union, or loan servicing environment.
  • Knowledge of core banking systems, loan origination, and collections software.
  • Familiarity with financial restructuring, insolvency, or debt negotiation.
