Payroll Specialist

General Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll processing for our India workforce. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of India payroll processing experience, a strong understanding of Indian payroll regulations, statutory compliance, proficiency in payroll software, and will also support APAC payroll as needed under the guidance of the Payroll Manager APAC.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support in executing end-to-end in-house payroll processing for India, including the preparation of statutory reports, assistance with filing periodic compliance, and conducting thorough data validation.
• Support the maintenance and updating of employee payroll records in coordination with HR, including processing new hires, exits, and compensation changes.
• Respond to employee payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Keep up to date with changes in Indian payroll regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
• Support the migration to new payroll systems
• Should have a good understanding of income tax rules and provide support in e-TDS filing on government portals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to compliance requirements.
• Assist in ensuring timely and accurate filing of statutory returns and challans in line with regulatory requirements.
• Support in keeping employee payroll records accurate and up to date, and help with internal documentation.
• Stay updated on Indian payroll regulations, statutory updates, and tax laws.
• Reconcile payroll with finance systems and support payroll-related accounting reconciliations/ general entries.
• Assist in internal, external, statutory payroll audits, including documentation and data preparation.
• Be open to taking on additional payroll tasks and responsibilities based on evolving business needs.
• Provide support on APAC payroll activities as needed, under the guidance of the Payroll Manager - APAC.
• Share relevant payroll concerns with the payroll manager in a timely manner to support smooth operations.

Work experience:

• Minimum 3 years of India Payroll processing experience on any payroll software.
• 3–5 years of hands-on payroll experience in India.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Human Resources, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
• Payroll processing experience on any payroll software is mandatory. Experience with Keka is preferred, but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of time and absence software are essential.
