Position Summary

The QA Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems to ensure all steel fabrication processes, products, and services meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role involves overseeing inspection activities, managing documentation, leading audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Management System (QMS)
• Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 (or relevant) QMS procedures for steel fabrication.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards (AWS, ASME, ASTM), and client requirements.
• Conduct periodic reviews of quality documents, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Inspection & Testing
• Oversee material inspection, welding inspections, dimensional checks, and surface finish verification.
• Coordinate NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) such as UT, RT, MT, and PT in accordance with project specifications.
• Maintain calibration records for measuring and testing equipment.
• Process Control
• Monitor fabrication and welding processes to ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
• Identify process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Work with production teams to improve manufacturing accuracy and reduce rework.
• Team Leadership
• Lead, train, and supervise QA/QC inspectors and welding inspectors.
• Foster a quality-focused culture within the organization.
• Coordinate with clients and third-party inspectors for quality approvals.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain quality records including ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), Material Test Certificates (MTCs), and inspection reports.
• Prepare weekly and monthly quality performance reports.
• Manage NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and follow up on closure actions.
• Audits & Compliance
• Plan and conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to quality procedures.
• Coordinate external audits from customers and certification bodies.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Continuous Improvement
• Implement Lean / Six Sigma principles to improve efficiency.
• Analyze defects, scrap, and rework trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Recommend and implement process changes to enhance quality and productivity.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in QA/QC within steel fabrication, structural steel, or heavy engineering industries.
• Certifications (preferred):
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
• AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CSWIP
• NDT Level II / III (UT, RT, MT, PT)
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of welding processes, steel grades, and fabrication techniques.
• Knowledge of international standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, EN, BS).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and QA/QC software tools.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Reduction in rework and scrap rates.
• Timely closure of NCRs.
• Compliance rate with project specifications and QMS.
• Audit pass rate (internal & external).
• Customer satisfaction scores.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹480, ₹650,000.00 per year
