Job Description: Senior Merchant-Product Development Women's Wear

Position Overview

We are an established Export House specializing in high-quality women's fashion apparel, seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Development Fashion Merchant to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will drive the development and execution of our women's fashion brand portfolio, ensuring seamless collaboration with international buyers and internal teams. Key Responsibilities

Product Development Leadership
: Spearhead the end-to-end development process for women's fashion collections, from initial concept ideation to final production execution, focusing on seasonal trends and brand-specific requirements.

Buyer Communication & Relationship Management
: Act as the primary point of contact for international buyers, conducting regular virtual and in-person meetings to present prototypes, negotiate specifications, and resolve queries, ensuring alignment with buyer expectations and timelines.

Fabric & Material Sourcing Expertise
: Leverage in-depth knowledge of fabrics (e.g., knits, woven, sustainable materials) to source and evaluate samples, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with global standards.

Design Collaboration
: Partner closely with design and creative teams to translate buyer briefs into viable designs, incorporating feedback loops for iterations while maintaining brand integrity.

Execution & Production Oversight
: Coordinate with manufacturing partners to oversee sampling, pre-production, and bulk execution, monitoring quality control, lead times, and cost optimizations to meet export deadlines.

Cross-Functional Teamwork
: Foster a collaborative environment by working hand-in-hand with merchandising, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to troubleshoot issues and drive project success.

Market Trend Analysis
: Stay abreast of global women's fashion trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes (e.g., sustainability certifications) to inform strategic development decisions.

Reporting & Analytics
: Prepare detailed reports on development progress, cost analyses, and performance metrics for senior management and buyers.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience
: Minimum 7-10 years in fashion merchandising/development within an export house or apparel manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years focused on women's fashion brands.

Technical Knowledge
: Strong expertise in fabric properties, garment construction, design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems), and production execution processes.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with international buyers across time zones.
