They also focus on space management, strategic planning, and emergency preparedness to maintain a functional and secure environment. Maintenance and operations

  • Oversee daily operations and manage the upkeep of facility equipment, systems (like HVAC), and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and manage maintenance activities, including scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Handle building renovations, installations, and refurbishments.
  • Supervise custodial functions, cleaning, landscaping, and waste disposal.

Health, safety, and security

  • Ensure the facility complies with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols and emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure standards are met.

Financial and vendor management

  • Develop and manage facility budgets, track costs, and control expenditures.
  • Oversee and negotiate contracts with service providers, including cleaning, security, and maintenance companies.
  • Manage the vendor base to ensure cost-effective procurement.

Staff and stakeholder management

  • Supervise facility staff, including technicians, custodians, and groundskeepers, and delegate tasks.
  • Coordinate with and manage external vendors and contractors.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and employees regarding facility-related issues.

Strategic planning and space management

  • Plan and coordinate long-term improvements for the facility.
  • Optimize the use of space within the building.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors on the design stages of projects
