Overview: The Deputy Manager of Custom Clearance plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the customs clearance process to ensure the timely and compliant movement of goods across borders. This position is essential in maintaining smooth and efficient import and export operations, upholding legal compliance, and minimizing any potential delays or penalties.Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervising the custom clearance team to ensure efficient and accurate documentation and processing of customs entries
  • Implementing and maintaining customs compliance programs and procedures
  • Coordinating with government agencies and customs brokers to secure necessary permits and clearances
  • Overseeing the classification and valuation of goods for customs compliance
  • Resolving customs issues and disputes in a timely and professional manner
  • Tracking and ensuring timely payment of duties and fees
  • Leading efforts to optimize customs processes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs
  • Ensuring that customs records and documentation are maintained in accordance with regulations
  • Managing relationships with key customs and logistics partners
  • Providing guidance and support to the custom clearance team on complex issues
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with customs regulations
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives related to customs clearance and logistics operations
  • Keeping abreast of changes in customs laws and regulations
  • Preparing reports and analysis related to customs activities and performance
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to streamline processes and resolve issues efficiently
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in customs clearance and logistics, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customs regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in customs clearance software and systems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of managing projects and driving process improvements
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with customs agencies and logistics partners
  • Understanding of international trade and logistics processes
  • Certification in Customs Compliance or related field is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
