We are hiring for various Strategic positions at mid to higher Management levels for a listed group / its Subsidiary. The group is very active in M&A and creating new capacities in Solar / Wind Renewable energy space.

Summary:

The Head of Quality & EHS will lead the organization's quality assurance, quality control, and EHS functions for solar and wind energy / hydro power projects. This senior leadership role involves developing and implementing strategies to ensure compliance with Indian regulations, international standards, and best practices in quality management, environmental protection, occupational health, and safety. The ideal candidate will drive a culture of excellence, risk mitigation, and sustainability, overseeing teams across multiple sites to support large-scale renewable energy initiatives. This position is critical for maintaining project integrity, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring worker safety in high-risk activities such as solar panel installation and wind turbine erection.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental), Environmental Science, or a related field. Certifications like NEBOSH, IOSH, or Lead Auditor for ISO 9001/14001/45001 are highly desirable.
• Minimum 12-15 years of experience in Quality & EHS roles, with at least 5-7 years in leadership positions within the renewable energy sector (solar and/or wind preferred).
• Proven track record in managing EHS for large-scale projects in India, including solar farms and wind parks.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian regulatory frameworks (e.g., Environment Protection Act, Factories Act) and international standards (e.g., IEC for solar, GL guidelines for wind).

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Management:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 standards, including policies for solar PV modules, wind turbines, and Balance of Plant (BoP) components.

• Oversee quality audits, inspections, and testing protocols for materials and equipment, ensuring adherence to Indian standards such as IS 14286 and IS 16170 for solar, and IS 875 for wind energy systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to qualify suppliers and monitor product quality throughout the supply chain.

• Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions to improve project reliability and performance.

• Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Leadership:

• Establish and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and training programs in compliance with the Environment Protection Act, Occupational Safety and Health standards, and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) guidelines.

• Secure environmental clearances for projects and manage environmental impact assessments (EIAs), focusing on land use, waste management, and biodiversity in solar farms and wind sites.
• Implement ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, including risk assessments for high-altitude wind installations and solar construction hazards.
• Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, such as incident rates, near-misses, and compliance audits, while ensuring alignment with IFC/World Bank EHS guidelines for renewable energy.

• Promote a safety-first culture through training, emergency response planning, and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols tailored to renewable energy risks.

• Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure statutory compliance with central and state-level regulations, including Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and electrical safety standards for grid-connected systems.

• Conduct regular site inspections and EHS audits across solar and wind projects, addressing issues like chemical handling in solar manufacturing or turbine maintenance safety.

• Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., Central Pollution Control Board, MNRE) and external auditors to maintain certifications and resolve non-compliances.

• Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Build and lead a high-performing Quality & EHS team, providing mentorship and performance evaluations.

• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and senior leadership to integrate Quality & EHS into project planning and execution.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as waste reduction in solar module production and sustainable practices in wind farm operations.
• Prepare reports for executive management and contribute to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting.
