Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and development of automotive plastic and thermoplastic components (interior, exterior, trims, housings, etc.) using CATIA V5. 

• Create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings ensuring compliance with industry and OEM standards. 
• Define DFMEA, DFA/DFM, and ensure designs meet cost, weight, durability, and manufacturability requirements. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, tooling, simulation, and suppliers. 
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure GD&T compliance. 
• Support prototype builds, testing, and validation phases. 
• Drive design changes, manage engineering change requests (ECR/ECO), and maintain design documentation. 
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications 

• Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 
• 10+ years of hands-on automotive design experience with plastics/thermoplastics. 
• Strong expertise in CATIA V5 Part Design, Surface Design, Assembly Design, and Drafting modules. 
• Deep understanding of plastic material properties, injection molding, tooling, and manufacturing processes. 
• Knowledge of automotive industry standards (OEM/Tier-1 design guidelines). 
• Strong skills in GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DFA/DFM. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with interior/exterior trims, dashboards, door panels, or under-the-hood plastic parts. 
• Exposure to CAE tools (structural/thermal analysis) for design validation. 
• Experience in working with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
