About the Opportunity :

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented API Automation Test Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in API automation testing using Postman, Karate, or equivalent tools, along with solid programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript.

This role involves working across API, backend, and integration layers, ensuring that microservices, data flows, and system interactions perform reliably and efficiently. The engineer will contribute to building scalable automation frameworks, integrating tests within CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with developers, DevOps, and product teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and execute API automation test scripts using tools such as Postman, Karate, Selenium, or Cucumber.

- Perform thorough API validation, including functional, regression, and integration testing.

- Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Java, Python, or JavaScript, following BDD/TDD methodologies.

- Collaborate closely with development teams to review API specifications and identify potential gaps.

- Execute test cases, report defects, and track resolutions using JIRA and Zephyr.

- Validate API responses, payloads, headers, and authentication mechanisms.

- Work with MongoDB to verify data consistency and validate backend processes.

- Integrate and maintain automation suites within CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub.

- Analyze and read application logs from AWS to troubleshoot issues and ensure stability across environments.

- Participate actively in Agile ceremoniesdaily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of automation frameworks, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

years of experience in API testing and automation.

- Proficiency in API testing tools such as Postman and Karate.

- Hands-on experience with Java, Python, or JavaScript for scripting and framework enhancement.

- Strong understanding of Selenium, Cucumber, and BDD frameworks.

- Familiarity with JIRA and Zephyr for test management and defect tracking.

- Experience working with Jenkins for CI/CD automation and GitHub for version control.

- Practical knowledge of MongoDB for data validation and backend testing.

- Basic understanding of AWS Cloud Environments, with ability to read and interpret logs.

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills for reporting and collaboration.

Preferred Skills :

- Knowledge of RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or K6.

- Familiarity with JSON schema validation and data-driven testing frameworks.

- Understanding of test design techniques for microservices architectures.

- Exposure to Dockerized or Kubernetes-based testing environments.

- Prior experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
