About the Role:

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented
STB Automation Test Engineer
with hands-on expertise in
Set-Top Box
testing, automation scripting, execution and video delivery ecosystems. The ideal candidate should have in-depth understanding of Linux & Android-based STBs, OTT streaming, and a strong command over Witbe automation, ADB tools, and automation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:


• Own and execute end-to-end STB functional, regression, and stability testing on STBs (Android/Linux).


• Develop robust, scalable test automation using Python integrated with Witbe (optional: Strom platforms).


• Utilize ADB commands for debugging, log capturing, and app/service-level validations on Android STBs.


• Write, execute and maintain automation test cases script for STB


• Perform root cause analysis for bugs across app, middleware, and backend API layers.


• Drive test strategy, documentation, and execution plans for feature rollouts and CRs.


• Analyse automation logs, generate test summary reports, and track KPIs using dashboards.


• Collaborate with dev, product, and release teams for quality assurance across software versions.


• Maintain test environments and configurations across labs.


• Day to day progress reporting to Test Dept Head

Must-Have Skills:


• 4–5 years of experience in Set-Top Box (STB) functional and automation testing.


• Proficiency in
Witbe
and Strom automation platforms for performance and QoE validation.


• Strong working knowledge of ADB (Android Debug Bridge) – log capture, app interaction, package management, shell access.


• Strong scripting knowledge in Python; exposure to frameworks like PyTest & Robot Framework.


• Understanding of STB and OTT architectures, including content pipeline, playback flows, DRM, and ABR streaming (HLS/DASH).


• Experience in testing features like Live TV, Catch-up, VOD, EPG, PVR, channel zap, boot/reboot, UI transitions.


• Familiar with video/audio codecs (H.264, H.265, AAC, Dolby) and performance metrics(bitrate, latency, buffering).


• Experience in API testing using Postman or REST clients; basic knowledge of API automation preferred.


• Proficient with tools like JIRA, PyCharm, Charles Proxy, CMS, Figma, Wireshark, Android Studio.

Good to Have:


• Knowledge of SATCR/LNB configurations, tuning & RF signal testing.


• Familiarity with OTT apps like Netflix, Prime, YouTube, and their integration on Android STBs.


• Exposure to cloud-based automation, remote device management, and CI/CD pipelines.


• Understanding of Linux commands, ADB shell scripting, and log analysis.


• Experience with test plan creation, benchmarking STB models, and comparative reporting.
