Role Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading end-to-end project execution for Crossword Bookstores, including planning, design, fit-outs, maintenance, and new store rollouts. The role will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with quality standards while building strong processes and leading a capable team to support the company's growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

● Lead the design, planning, and execution of store fit-out and maintenance projects.

● Ensure adherence to quality standards, budget controls, and project timelines.

● Conduct regular site visits and audits to supervise activities and ensure timely delivery.

● Identify project bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies.

● Optimize resources during project implementation to maximize efficiency.

● Ensure timely project completion and compliance with mall/property certification requirements for store openings.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

● Prepare the annual project's budget in alignment with business expansion plans.

● Monitor and control expenses to ensure they remain within approved budgets.

● Submit monthly forecasts to the Finance team to ensure smooth flow of cash for payments.

3. MIS & Reporting

● Track and report on project schedules (planned vs. actual completion dates).

● Provide MIS on project budgets vs. actual expenses, highlighting cost-saving initiatives.

● Share project status updates with management for timely decision-making.

4. Team & Process Development

● Develop and implement SOPs to ensure consistency in project execution.

● Lead, mentor, and coach team members through appraisals, training, and capability development.

● Foster a culture of accountability, process orientation, and collaboration.

5. Authorities

● Control and approve all project-related expenses.

● Recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Key Competencies Technical:

● Strong expertise in project management and fit-out execution.

● Proficiency in AutoCAD, and other project design tools, and technical drawing review.

● Knowledge of construction and maintenance standards in retail environments.

Behavioural:

● Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills.

● Strong leadership and team management abilities.

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

● Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

● Graduate/Postgraduate in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field.

● 10–15 years of experience in project execution, preferably in retail or commercial projects.

● Hands-on experience in fit-outs, maintenance, and store opening projects is highly desirable.
