Job Description: Commi Chef at Epic Poetry Cafe

Location: Vytilla, Kochi

Position Overview:

As a Commi Chef, you will play a crucial role in preparing and presenting high-quality Continental dishes. A strong emphasis on hygiene and maintenance is essential, as is proficient handling of kitchen equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Culinary Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of Continental dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards. This ensures that each dish meets our quality expectations.

2. Hygiene and Cleanliness:

  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment at all times. This involves regular cleaning of workstations, kitchen equipment, and utensils, as well as adhering to proper food handling and storage practices.

3. Safety Compliance:

  • Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment. This includes understanding and implementing proper food safety protocols, as well as reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions to senior staff.

4. Kitchen Equipment Handling:

  • Handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. This includes understanding the proper use of tools such as knives, ovens, and fryers, as well as ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly.

5. Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with senior chefs in managing inventory and sourcing fresh ingredients. This involves tracking ingredient usage, helping with stock rotation, and assisting in ordering supplies when necessary.

6. Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations. This includes communicating effectively during busy service times, supporting colleagues, and contributing to a positive team environment.

7. Organization and Storage:

  • Organize workstations and ensure proper food storage practices. This includes labeling and dating food items, maintaining organized refrigeration units.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Commi Chef or in a similar role preferred.

  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Passion for Italian and French cuisine with a desire to expand your culinary skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
