Key AccountabilitiesAccountable for Local Financial Accounting, financial statement preparation and reporting to RBI.Coordinate with Statutory, RBI, Internal audit for audit closure. To ensure correct and timely submission of RBI returns. To ensure correct financial and regulatory reporting.
Ability to drive the automation and process improvement projects required in the area of RBI reporting & local financial reporting. Collaborate with business units, providing timely and accurate insights on new regulations and their impact, and supporting new product launches from a regulatory and accounting perspective. .Enhance the bank's compliance culture through active participation in the Regulatory Governance group.
Maintain current and up-to-date Department Operating Instructions (DOI). Mentor team for higher level of roles and commitment. Job Duties & responsibilitiesI.
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance:Financial Reporting & Compliance: Plan, execute, and review all financial statement and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reporting, ensuring timely completion and accuracy. Proactively monitor and analyze changes in relevant regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), conducting impact assessments and presenting findings to stakeholders. Develop and implement strategies to address new regulatory requirements and product introductions.
Analyze and document GAAP differences between IFRS and local accounting standards. Risk Management & Internal Controls: Maintain updated Department Operating Instructions (DOIs) and ensure timely identification and remediation of control breaches, highlighting these in the risk matrix. Manage all audit issues, ensuring timely and appropriate corrective actions.
II. Process Improvement & Automation:Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase productivity and achieve standardization. III.
Strategic Contributions & Team Leadership:Strategic Initiatives: Provide valuable insights and input on strategic initiatives within the department and the bank, including identifying opportunities to add value to regulatory parameters impacting the banking business. Develop business management information systems (MIS) based on the regulatory report database. Team Management & Development: Mentor and develop team members, setting goals, monitoring performance, identifying training needs, and promoting staff learning through training and on-the-job experiences, preparing staff for increased responsibility.
Share knowledge and information with other Finance groups. Support the tax team with data as needed. Required Experience10 years of banking experience; 4-5 years in a comparable senior role within a mid-sized bank.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of RBI regulations, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), various banking products, systems, and business and control processes. ;Sound knowledge of the overall banking environment and applicable regulations;Education / Preferred QualificationsChartered Accountant.
