Role & responsibilities

The Payroll Officer ensures the accuracy and timely delivery of payroll through liaising with the human resources

team within a company. They are responsible for providing internal controls and interfacing with external parties to provide information on payroll related issues.

Job Scope

To provide the payroll function and payroll advice and support to all non-executive levels of the

business.

Responsibilities

Provide expert knowledge and troubleshooting for customers regarding payroll and payroll

applications

Provide payroll information to third parties and internal departments

Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective internal and external payroll

manuals

Respond to inquiries and provide information on a wide variety of payroll-related issues

Review, analyze, and interpret documents received from human resources and other

departments for processing payroll transactions

Perform manual calculations to verify that changes in payroll records are yielding the correct pay

Verify and reconcile all input documents and transactions to the preliminary payroll register for

accuracy of output

Resolve payroll discrepancies by checking transactions, carrying out audits, and developing

action plans to implement corrections

Collaborate with the human resources team and other departments to ensure the accurate and

timely submission of payroll for processing

Verify time and pay, review coding, make corrections where needed, check rates, and assess

data for reasonableness

Responsible for accurate data processing

Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of pays and payroll functions including leave

entitlements, payroll deductions on a weekly, fortnightly, bi-monthly and monthly basis

Process information in a timely manner that is required for the remittance of statutory charges

and superannuation, child support, health insurance and other deduction benefits

Provision of accurate and timely monthly and annual reporting and statistical analysis to the

National Payroll Manager

Ensure all wage payments made comply with the relevant award / agreement

Conducting payroll audits

Improving the accuracy of the payroll information and system

Various types of payroll reconciliations

Ensure that SAP payroll general ledger simulation is error free prior to releasing the EFT file to

ADP for processing after each pay cycle to assist with monthly reconciliation of the wages

clearing accounts

Processing various documents relating to employees

Dealing professionally with phone enquiries

Working co operatively within the payroll team

Provision of advice on payroll and provision of the necessary tools to enable site managers to

follow Company policies and procedures.

Provision of advice on Industrial Relations, Awards and Statutory Systems

Close liaison with site, senior and operations management, providing feedback and

improvements to ensure payroll policies are being adhered to.

Maintenance of all payroll records.

To be responsible for adhering to the health, safety, environmental and quality standards,

policies and procedures and for proactively acting in a manner that supports a healthy and safe

work environment, including the reporting of all incidents and hazards.
