Key Purpose of the Job :

The After Sales Engineer is responsible for ensuring technical service for breakdowns are handled for restoration of compressed air as per service level agreements. Ensuring regular service, maintenance activities and collections as per schedule in the geographies assigned is critical to the role holder. Additionally, the role holder is responsible for achievement of aftermarket targets for spares and service.

Educational Qualification / Experience required :

  • Diploma in Engineering

  • Experience of 3 to 9 years in aftermarket service of compressors

  • Should possess knowledge of diagnostic methods, tools & techniques

  • Should have experience in managing teams

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Responsible for ensuring restoration of compressed air at customer site in the event of compressor breakdown

  2. Responsible for ensuring completion of regular service activities, documentation, other aftermarket activities

  3. Responsible for achieving aftermarket targets for servicing, AMCs, spares, etc.

  4. Responsible for achieving customer satisfaction index targets

  5. Responsible for overseeing aftermarket operations of assigned dealerships

  6. Supervise service team for achieving service and spares sales targets as per plan

Task Analysis:

Indicative Tasks

  1. Responsible for ensuring restoration of compressed air at customer site in the event of compressor breakdown.

a) Coordinate with Customer Care Service (CCS)and ensure customer complaints related to compressor breakdowns are assigned immediately.

b) Review allocation of service calls, realign subordinates to cater to contingencies, as appropriate.

c) Supervise repair work conducted at customer site, ensure set procedures and steps are followed.

d) Ensure root cause analysis is carried out to resolve the problem for warranty procedures.

e) Resolve escalated issues and warranty claims, as appropriate.

f) Ensure adherence to target time schedule (48 hour rule) to ensure business continuity at customer site.

g) Provide for standby parts components, as necessary with approvals.

h) Ensure failed material is collected by Service Technician and is forwarded for testing and analysis

i) Ensure Service Technicians adhere to warranty conditions while conducting repairs to compressors and raise invoices as per procedures

j) Assist Service Technician in restoration of compressed air as necessary

  1. Responsible for ensuring completion of regular service activities, documentation, other aftermarket activities

a) Provide service team with latest / update checklists and manuals

b) Ensure coordination with sales project team for installation, commisioning, technical support requirements

c) Oversee installation of compressor and ensure set steps, procedures are followed by subordinates at customer site

d) Ensure team adhere to installation schedule and completes required activities (for example, testing all parameters, raising service invoices) on time

e) Monitor and ensure scheduled servicing of compressors are carried out at customer site for smooth operation of equipment

f) Ensure machine mapping and effective allocation of machines to service engineers

g) Coordinate with Global Support Centre (GSC) / dealers to obtain spares / parts and oversee their installation, ensure they meet set quality and timelines

h) Raise service bill for direct installation / commissioning / maintenance / service and coordinate with Head Office (HO) for invoicing and debit note

i) Follow up with dealer, customer in case of outstanding collections (Accounts Receivables)

j) Escalate defaults in payment to supervisor

k) Ensure team adheres to set budget for After Market cost (for example, travel, conveyance, etc.)

  1. Responsible for achieving aftermarket targets for servicing, AMCs, spares, etc.

a) Set and communicate individual aftermarket targets for subordinates

b) Identify and increase new customer accounts (for example, potential enquiry generation, OEM visits, dealer visits, etc.)

c) Monitor on daily basis to ensure prompt response to aftermarket enquiries

d) Analyze weekly spares audit report and review and change spare / parts sales targets for subordinates as appropriate

e) Coordinate with aftermarket product support for regular updates, new compressor part details

f) Provide support in organization and execution of service campaigns

g) Achieve target revenue for AMCs by obtaining AMCs for new machines and retain previous customers through renewal of contract

h) Ensure collections of payments is achieved, follow up with customers for payment as per payment terms and conditions

  1. Responsible for achieving customer satisfaction index targets

a) Identify key customers, visit and interact with customers to establish rapport

b) Make periodic courtesy calls / visits to key customers and determine future needs and requirements of the customer

c) Ensure customer queries / issues are addressed to promptly and satisfactorily

d) Review closure of compressor breakdown issues and ensure customers are not having repeat issues after service

e) Review dissatisfied customer report and make changes to procedures / steps as appropriate

f) Handle irate customers / escalated issues and ensure resolution

  1. Responsible for overseeing aftermarket operations of assigned dealerships

a) Monitor dealer performance based on sales of service, spares / parts

b) Track and monitor leads, conversions generated by Dealer Engineers

c) Train Dealer Engineers to improve their technical skills and ensure they are updated on the various aftermarket offerings

d) Provide technical support, brief on technical diagrams, electrical inputs, etc. to dealerships

e) Review dealer reports (for example, service, commission, pending FOCs, etc.) and make changes as appropriate

f) Conduct development activities through dealer visits, audits, process analysis and provide inputs on dealership improvement activities

  1. Supervise service team for achieving service and spares sales targets as per plan

a) Plan, set and communicate service levels and sales targets to Service Technicians

b) Track and monitor leads, conversions generated for aftermarket products / services

c) Train team on technical skills and ensure they are update on the various aftermarket offerings

d) Address and resolve hurdles / bottlenecks faced by team

e) Conduct weekly meetings with team to review performance and provide feedback

f) Monitor team's performance and motivate them to achieve their individual targets

For Railway Part Sales

§ Responsible for achieving part sales, service sales targets

§ Track enquiries generated by Stores of railway organizations, study, analyze requirements

§ Prepare and submit tender documents, other documentation for spares / parts / service sales

§ Follow up with customer / dealer for payments as per payment schedule

§ Conduct AMCs as per contract at customer site / sheds and submit invoices as necessary

§ Monitor and track optimum level of spares / parts at warehouses
