Background Information:

Do you want to play a role in the Digital Transformation of Unilever R&D? This vacancy sits within Beauty & Wellbeing India BU team, R&D team specifically focussing on developing and providing the right digital tools that help R&D work faster, more efficiently and helps ensure the right data is captured. They require continuous development to meet new business requirements and need to be trained out to users so that everyone can routinely use them to as part of their role. These digital tools are the foundations of how we work digitally and are used by Scientists, Product Formulators, Packaging Developers, Process Developers and sometimes even by other functions. The role provides an excellent opportunity to further grow and develop your standards of leadership, working with people from different cultures as you deploy and training users on how to use these new tools.

Key Responsibilities:

The role will support all digital interventions required for E2E product development and deployment within B&W category. As part of the B&W taskforce, this position will actively contribute to driving R&D digital strategy for B&W and associated catgeories. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, finance, quality, and R&D, to ensure the implementation of digital tools, upskilling program, stability modelling and consumer facing diagnostic tools for Beauty and wellbeing product portfolio.

Role Profile:

The Sr Digital R&D Specialist plays a critical role in the digital programme, working withing business groups local and global teams to undertake key activities related to the business analysis, deployment, and day-to-day support of the various requirements. Some of these Day-to-day responsibilities and tasks are listed below but may evolve in accordance with the programme strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure R&D development data is well captured across all the available digital tools OTIF and with 100% quality compliance on day today basis.
  • Evaluate RnD data backbone digital tool changes by speaking to Business groups and ensure they do not impact the future fit systems, ensure right first-time data, regulatory compliances, sustainability commitments, and any other downstream business systems
  • Liaise with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to evaluate changes to the digital systems, document business requirements and impact
  • Liaise with external partners and vendors and identify right tools and throughout the change lifecycle, to design, build, test, and deploy changes to the digital systems (Pack+ Formulation)
  • Validate technical solutions against their design intent and log incidents where discrepancies arise
  • Create training material to guide and upskill business users in the use of new/modified systems
  • Support user groups within the Unilever business with the day-to-day use of the Digital systems like AWS, LIMS, PLM, Pharos, FAST and more
  • Changes on RnD Data backbone platforms (SAP PLM + Pack Tools): Ensure that the committed Changes are delivered in Full on Time with good quality
  • Prioritization: Set up a framework to prioritize the multiple change requests on various platform and manage user expectations
  • Appreciate the impact of decisions made for one program on the others in the R&D Digital Transformation space
  • Drive the Change Board for various program to advise on and approve changes
  • Work with Uniops and 3rd party partners to ensure that the System supports the business requirements, is robust, delivers a good user experience and is cost-effective.
  • Create and track execution metrics on design, development, testing, user experience, deployment, training and change management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, co-create with Digital R&D extended teams to drive a cultural shift around Digital across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the development of training and change management plans for successful deployment of new digital tools and business processes across R&D. This includes content and communications

generation that resonates with users using multiple mediums.

Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is interested in digital transformation and someone who is structured, self-motivated and disciplined in how they complete tasks. They will need to be able to work with internal and external

partners, have good communication skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to people. Experience in agile working is also preferred.

  • Degree in science / technology / engineering
  • Experience in R&D, preferably with digital tools hands on knowledge for min 3-4 years across Packaging & Formulation or Product Design &/or Deploy or a market facing technical role or worked in digital transformation programs.
  • Proven track record working in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Proven track record in understanding and delivering to consumer or customer requirements
  • Broad technical understanding of R&D e2e product development processes
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Viva Engage)
