Manager, Collection Legal Operations

KreditBee is India's largest fintech lending platform with a current monthly disbursement of over ₹2200 Crores. It has 70 Million+ downloads on Google Play Store and over 85 Lakh unique loan customers. It offers various financial services digitally including but not limited to Personal Loans, Business Loans, Loan against property (LAP), DigiGold investment, Insurance, Credit Score Report, and Expense Tracker. The group entity has an in-house RBI registered NBFC, and is currently Series-D funded with marquee investors like Premji Invest, Advent International, Motilal Oswal Private Equity, MUFG and TPG-backed NewQuest, among others.
We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to lead the legal-collection operations for multiple secured
and unsecured businesses in our portfolio. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end legal collection
processes, ensuring seamless recovery of overdue accounts through effective strategies, compliance
with regulations, and cross-functional collaboration. This role will report into the Head of Collections,
KreditBee.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Warnings and Notices:
Oversee the generation of soft and hard dunning notices in bulk using predefined rules and
templates.
Ensure timely and accurate dispatch of digital and physical legal notices to delinquent
customers.
2. Litigation and Arbitration Management:
Identify cases suitable for arbitration or actionable under Section 138 of the Negotiable
Instruments Act.
Coordinate bulk assignment of cases to external counsel, ensuring accurate documentation
and adherence to protocols.
3. Court Case Tracking and Automation:
Utilize technology to monitor legal case progress across multiple courts, focusing on updates
such as next hearing dates, judgments, and order copies.
Implement automated systems to streamline case monitoring and reduce manual
intervention.
4. Vendor Management and Cost Control:
Manage vendor relationships with external legal counsel and service providers.
Implement appropriate billing structures and monitor spends to ensure cost-effective
operations.
5. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure all legal collection processes align with RBI guidelines and NBFC regulatory
frameworks.
Maintain strict adherence to legal standards for notice formats and dispatch timelines.
Generate detailed reports on legal collection status, case progress, and budget utilization for
senior management.
6. Collection Strategy
Develop and implement robust legal collection strategies tailored for both secured and
unsecured portfolios.
Drive recovery efforts by analyzing and categorizing delinquent accounts, implementing
targeted corrective actions.
Work closely with sales, operations, and risk teams to align recovery efforts with broader
business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB)
5+ years of experience in legal operations, collections, or a similar role, preferably in the
financial services or NBFC sector.
Deep understanding of arbitration processes, Section 138 cases, and court systems in India.
Proficiency in legal automation tools and technologies, with experience managing large-scale
operations.
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
